DC Area Meet

Hey,
I spotted the below message on the GTI listserver. I am going to try and
attend to firm up some future features for our own print magazine. The
timing is a little late for submission for our first issue due in August,
but we'll need features and I would rather stick with privately owned VWs &
Audis. If anyone from the lists is interested in going, pass along the info.
I was at last year's show and they are right, it was a very good turnout for
early march in the rain. Hopefully I'll see many of you DC area listers
there. As for me, I'll either be in a '94 German spec GLX Jetta with
roofrack or a '93 Corrado VR6 (green). I may swing the soon to be released
VW Vortex Long-Term Passat (not to be confused with our Project Passat) ,
but I am not sure if it will be in town that weekend.

Subject: [gti-vr6] VW SPORT show and shine!

To all fellow listers,

Just want to let everyone know about our upcoming show-n-shine! On
Sunday March 7th from approximately 9am until ?? we'll be holding our
annual car show. It will take place in the parking lot here at VW
SPORT. We have spaces for over 150 cars. For directions, please refer
to our website (VWSPORTUSA.COM). We held this event last year and
despite foul weather, we still had what we considered to be a very
decent turnout (about 80 cars or so). Anyway, this year's event should
be much bigger. The guys from Performance VW magazine will be here
again, all the way from the UK, looking for cars to feature. CEC will
also be stopping by in their Audi A4, and Rob Brooks from MOMO will also
be on hand. If you didn't attend last year, this is a very casual show.
There will be no judging, no classes, and no entry fees; just lots of
fun! Rain, snow or shine, we'll be here because winter's getting pretty
boring and it always seems to be at least 50 degrees in D.C. anyway. We
think May is too long a wait for the next show. Please come and help us
show Greg Emmerson and the rest of his cocky British friends that the US
VW/Audi scene is just as active as it is in Europe (they'd never get a
decent turnout for a winter show in England, that's why they're coming
here!).

P.S. Greg also edits a mag called Performance BMW and wants to shoot
some tuned BMW's, so if you or any of your friends have one and want it
featured in a mag, please show up here on the 7th.
