There is one car enthusiast magazine I can think of that has remained
reasonably objective: "The Roundel", which is the BMW Car Club of America's
monthly publication. There have been several times in the past when their
columns or reporting have been distinctly critical of BMW North America, and
they somehow manage not to hype manufacturers products while giving the
reader solid technical information.
Audifest Thought: BTW, the BMW CCA and the Shelby American Automobile Club
(SAAC) both have one national meeting per year, and the meeting location
rotates each time, often around a regional racetrack (Watkins Glen, Portland
International, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Indianapolis, Monterey, etc). This
way, the meeting location never gets stale and you continue to bring in new
attendees within each region. These national meets are also organized quite
early (both BMW CCA and SAAC lined up their 1999 meet locations months ago,
and I've already received the registration forms for both) because the
hosting racetrack managers work their schedules a year in advance.
