As I recall, there are two types of speed sensors, dependant on vintage and
perhaps model.  Earlier ones are pushed into place using sacrificial plastic
spacers, while later ones are bolted into place, with the mount setting proper
spacing.  I've heard that the sacrificial plastic spacers will not fit on the
bolt-in sensors (and since the plastic spacers are very cheap, if you don't
know, buy some and see if they fit; if not, return them).
