John:  I'm not sure I understand the sarcasm in your message.  The "60
Minutes" debacle was conjured up by a biased news organization.  From
what I've read, and I am not an a4 owner, this appears to be a serious
safety related issue.

NHTSA is in place to address issues like this.  It's obvious that Audi
knows about this problem, because, among other sources, they monitor
this list.  So far, no recall.  The problem has been addressed in later
models.  But no fix for earlier models. 

There is a difference between planned attacks on a corporation and
responsible action by that same corporation.

My intent was not to start a thread that would be beat do death, but to
save fellow listers from possible injury.
