S4 purchase?

I am trying to decie if I can take the plunge and buy an S4. I have read
all that's out there and I am concerned about the apparent very high
maintenance/repair costs.

This will be a daily driver, I do about 18K a year, mostly interstate and
two lanes "highways". Any comments, caveats.

I have a 92 pearl with 100k for $14.5 or a 93 with 78K for $19.9 (but it is
red).

Comments?

Or would I be better off with a 98 A4, I could live with that, 16K miles,
black/black $28K
