RE: 87tq differential fluid

I just changed my manual and rear diff fluid today('88 5kcsq). I had bought
75-90 (gl-5) Castrol Synth from Blau but when I went to change the fluid the
plugs were so tight for my 17mm hex, so I wimped out and took it to
quicklube in Mv, CA where I watched them like a hawk change the fluid. The
guy did a great job (really flushed it out)and used penzoil 75-90 in front
and rear. I am hoping it will improve my cold shifting, but I suspect it
will as the shifting feels smoother already. I checked w/ Jim at Blau before
using the same type synth in front and rear and he said that is what they do
there. If your interested I will let you know about the cold shifting diff
in the AM.

Good Luck

The f@r change cost was $64.00

Subject: 87tq differential fluid

On very cold morinings - below freezing - my car growns when i am backing
it
up and it is very hard to shift until I travel several miles. A couple
years ago, I replaced the fluids with a blend sold by Blau. I think it
was in part a sythetic blend. Supposedly, it worked better it the cold,
but I did not find it so. I want to change the fluids again in the hope
of curing the groaning noise and stifting. Is there a full sythetic
blend that will solve my problem (brand?). Will it cause seals to leak?
I would appreciate hear of any similar experienc and what sucess you may
have had in curing the problem. Georg K jkot@pitt.edut
