You can test your fuel pump by hot-wiring the fuel pump relay. Don't
buy a new pump without making sure that is really what's bad.
Replacing the pump is not too hard to do, I have done this on my 4K and
took me less than 1 hour. Just make sure you get the right pump
for your car, and that your pump comes with the check valve attached.
It's a good idea to replace the pre-filter too. You can get this from
the dealer (or Linda@Carlsen). Make sure all connections are clean before
you take anything apart. Don't get any dirt into the fuel lines.
Check the condition of the fuel hoses too. If the cloth braided hoses
(from the tank to the pre-filter, and from the pre-filter to the fuel
pump) look aged and cracked then it's time to replace them too.
