Audi maintenance cost in Germany
Just finished a summary of the cost for my 200Q which I drove from
5/92 until 4/98 here in Germany. The car, a 200Q built 10/88 model 89
was purchased 5/92 for $16.900 with 31791miles and traded in for my
S2 Avant on 4/98 for $2.600 at 109570miles. The car was regular
maintained at my local Audi dealer with the major repairs being:
broken exhaust manifold exchanged for 2 piece design; new AC
compressor; new starter; new clutch; new oil lines for oil cooler;
new master brake cylinder; 1 set brake discs; new exhaust down pipe;
new rear muffler; new Bilstein shocks; 2 sets Dunlop 205/60VR15 D2M8.
The total cost including maintenance, oil, gas, insurance and taxes
is $36.500 or together with the purchase and the trade in is $50.800.
If I compare my running cost with numbers published for other cars
like WMB or BD, Audi doesn't look that bad and is still way cheaper
than any of the comparable cars from Japan.
To give you another data point for the cost of maintaining an Audi in
Germany, I just had the 93 S2Avant in for regular service at
60000miles and had also the cam belt replaced together with the water
pump and the idler pulley and a new wiper fluid bottle was installed,
which set me back in total $960. This is I believe a reasonable price
if you consider that to be able to change the cam belt on the ABY
engine, half of the car front has to be taken off.
