re: AOA experiences
Good experience with AoA policies:
My previous Audi was an '86 4000csq, purchased used in '91 with 60k miles. At
the end of the rust warrantee period (to the month), I made an appointment to
see the regional representative due to rust that had formed on the trunklid,
where the metal folds over above the license plate frame area. The rep, with
some discussion, agreed that it was a warrantee issue, and I called around and
got prices for fixing, using either used parts, or new parts. The used parts
available all had similar rust beginning, or were generally hard to find (and
not zermatt silver metalic, either). So, Audi paid for the new sheetmetal,
painting, new badges, and transfering everything else over from my old trunk
lid.
* I had a similar rust problem with my wife's Toyota Celica GT; brought it
into the dealer, they looked at it (without a factory rep); approved it, and
scheduled the body work and painting. No need for the legwork, multiple
appointments, and _dozens_ of phone calls that the audi warrantee work
required...
Went in to the dealer about some rust showing on my galvanized '91 200q;
typical problem where the rear metalic trim sits over the rear bumper,
according to other list posts. Took multiple appointments to get in when the
area rep was available (and at least 8 phone calls to set up; all intitiated
by me; they don't call back); had to wait about 4 hours when the rep blew off
his AM appointment; then didn't get to meet and discuss with him after all...
dealer looked it over, and said the rust was merely staining from the bolts
holding on the trim. Well, 9 months later, it's obviously not the bolts, so
I'll be scheduling another appointment (at a different dealer) and making Audi
cover the warrantee work. Wish me luck; chris
