any btdt's with 90 v8q transmission repair?
I picked up a repairable 90 v8q at auction with minor frontend damage
(fender, hood, headlight, misc trim pieces). I tracked down the previous
owner and verified the drivetrain was working fine before the accident.
This past weekend I put everything together and fired it up. To my major
disappointment, the car doesn't move. All I hear is a sickening
racheting sound when I slip the auto into drive. After discussing this
with the former owner, he mentioned that when the car was hauled from
the accident scene, it was done with a standard front lift tow truck and
no dolly for the rear wheels! arrrrrrg! The car was hauled like that for
about 5 miles at 40-50 MPH. It was then moved again but I have no way of
knowing how it was transported.
I have the following questions:
1. Any idea what damage occurs to the auto transmission when
transporting a quattro this way?
2. I'm going to pull and dismantle the transmission. Who is a
good source for parts?
3. If it is too expensive I may consider fitting a 5 spd. Any bolt ups
other than the v8q 5spd?
Thanks for any help,
Mark
