Audi 90

Hi all,


I am looking for my first Audi. Just today I checked out a 1991 Audi 80.
It is really cheap, $3100. I have afew questions, mostly coming from
observations:

1. When I opened the trunk, I noticed alot of condensation around the top
part of the trunk (near the glass/rubber seals), apparently, I was enough
to form a 3" deep puddle in the trunk where the spare tire is supposed to
sit. Snice I live in NH, it was all frozen, but the condensaation didn't
feel cold at all. My guess is that is was the result of weeks of build up.
>From either snow or what not. But my question is, is this a common problem
in 1991 80's  or is it easy to fix?

2. The engine has 198k miles that are highway miles. I am going to call
the previous owner to confirm this, but, is this alot of miles for an
Audi? Will I expect any serious engine problems within the next, say 30k
miles?

3. I inspected as much as I could, it seems the exhaust is new. One thing
that concerned me is when I was test driving it, the acceleration was very
slow. It took me about 12-15 seconds to reach 60mph. The car seem to have
very little power in 1st, 2nd had alittle more, and 3rd seem to have the
most "punch". Compared to my 1994 Jetta, the car is underpowered (just
from me driving it). Is this something that comes with high mileage
Audi's?

4. Is there a reliable way to check the timing belt (or chain?) without
have to take stuff apart? 

And last, does anyone have any tips for buying Audi's? Basicly, I want a
nice looking Audi with lots of features, and the ability to customize it
to the max. I am looking for performance too.
