Relay the UrQ headlights.
When I put Euro H4/H1 lights in my UrQ I went the extra step and put in
the relays for future wattage increases (as soon as just one bulb burns
out).
You need to run a large gauge wire 0 gauge I believe, from the post on
the alternator to a splitter box. I used a streetwires gold plated one,
mounted in front of the radiator. Here I put in three fuses to supply
power to three 40 amp relays. The purpose of the relay is to take the
load off the existing headlight wiring which can't handle additional
power and significantly reduce the power you get at the headlights. Some
people were measuring below 12 volts at the lights.
The three relays control 1) the low beams, 2) the outer high beams 3)
the inner high beams. The two high beam relays are switched from the old
high beam power source. The low beam relay is switched from the old low
beam power supply. Each relay will require 4 wires of input. One line to
the headlight, one line from the power splitter, one line from the old
headlight wiring and one new ground. The grounds can all be connected
together and head off to a single grounding point. What you're doing
here is using a switch that turns on and off with the headlights to
connect your new power source with your headlights. Sorry this is a bit
rambling, but there are the basics. Good luck.
