automatic transmission

I just purchased a 92 100s from a local dealer. I spoke with the
prior owner and he imforms me that while it was in warranty, the
origional transmission went bad and was replaced with a rebuilt unit.
It also went bad in about 2 weeks, and Audi then installed a new
updated version of the transmission. Supposedly, the early 92 models
were having tranny problems which was corrected with the updated
version. I believe the former owner but was curious if anyone else can
confirm this bit of audi history.

Also, this new tranny holds in all gears longer builing rpm before
shifting. It is especially noticeable in 3rd gear before shifting to 4th.
Has anyone else experienced this - I noticed it because of the different
shifting pattern compared to my 94 100cs quattro which shift much more
quickly and smoothely thru the gears. George K jkot@pitt.edu
