Too much oil!
Last night I'm changing the oil in the A6 (95 model, with the newer engine).
No big deal, I have a case of Mobil 1 and everything's great. Except, as
I'm pouring in what I believe to be the 5th quart, I reach over to the case
and realize that I just poured in the 6th quart. First, I submit myself to
the punishment and scorn of the Quattro list. In my defense, this is the
first time I've ever done this and I've been changing oil for years. Now,
to my question, the capacity according to the owner's manual is 5.3 quarts.
Thus, I have a little over a half a quart too much in the motor. Ok, ok 7/10
of a quart. The dipstick does show over the full mark. I know the motor
should never be overfilled for obvious reasons, but should I actually drain
the extra half court? Unfortunately, I was finished late last night and had
to let me wife drive the car this morning so the damage that comes from
overfilling may already be done. Any advice, admonishments, ect. welcome.
