The R&S chassis BMW is a US effort. It has the factory blessings, sponsorships
(fina), and drivers (Hans Stuck and Steve Soper to name a couple). It won it's
very first race (Laguna Seca SportsCar WSC race last October). I had thought
with that success combined with the relative failure of the Williams designed
car they would opt for the R&S chassis...we shall see I suppose. One thing for
certain, Audi is fully aware of this car and knows it is what they will have
to beat (along with the dominant Dysen Racing R&S Fords) to win here in the US
Le Mans series. They do plan to run this series, maybe not this year, but
certainly next.
