RE: Detailing/Waxing
Glad you found the detailing information useful. I'm no longer in the
detailing business. I detailed cars for a local detailing shop for about 5
years. The owner is still a good friend and does some of the best work I've
ever seen.
Working as a detailer taught me two extremely important lessons that I think
all listers can benefit by:
1) a well maintained and well cared for car CAN last a lifetime, and
2) a neglected and poorly maintained car CAN be made to LOOK like a well
maintained car with enough work. This lesson has a flip side though: Never
judge a used car purchase by how clean the engine looks, or how nice the
paint appears. As a detailer, I brought several neglected, grease soaked
and dirt coated engines and transmissions back to a brilliant shine with
huge quantities of solvent, detergent, steam and hot water. Appearances can
be deceiving.
I WILL create a detailing web page to showcase the tricks and tidbits I
picked up over the years. None of them are out of the reach to the average
car owner, and can create some spectacular results. Until then... Happy
motoring.
