Another alternative from my BTDT.

for 3078 use o-ratchet with its 22 mm socket (a complete set with
all socket sizes useful for other purposes too is about $40-50 at Sears).
There is also an option to use a 22mm box end wrench if you can reach the
nut with it, or to hold a 22 mm socket with a wise-grip (the worst solution)

You also need a substitute for VW 524 for a slotted nut. It is available
from GPR for $10.

Is 2069A for threaded cap removal? To remove a threaded cap one can use a
big pipe wrench. The new strut comes with a new cap anyway
