The other way is more expensive, but more stealthy.
First, get a proper set of Euro lights from someone like "The Parts
Department" in the UK - 011 44 1273 326189. Tell Tim you live in the
USA and need LHD (dip to the right) lenses - he buys direct from the
Cibie factory and deals in both LHD and RHD lights.
Install normal 55w/65w H4 mains. Many people stop at this point,
fully satisfied.
To continue, install an auxiliary wiring harness. There are several
sources here on the mailing list - I use a BR Motorsport harness.
This adds about 0.5v to 1v at the bulbs, and improves the brightness
significantly. Again, many people stop right here with stock bulbs.
Still further - higher wattage bulbs. Don't try these until you've
reached this point. I currently run 2 x 100w/170w H4 and 2 x 100w H1
(with good reflectors, clean new lenses and proper alignment). The
car looks as stealthy as a black metallic ur-quattro stripped of all
badges and markings bar the grill rings _can_ look.
This is not the cheap route, though.
