they are basically the same. use the same filter.

e-car did the savage thing to their project 4kq, they drilled a bunch of
one inch holes in the bottom of the airbox. K & N does make a panel
filter that fits our cars stock. problem as I see it with a cone or
something is the smaller surface area - it will need
cleaning/replacement more often. The stock filter is pretty well
designed, imho. It's got as big a surface area as my F250 with a 360
engine, almost, and big dirt can fall down off it and out a little hole
with any luck in the course of regular driving.

I am currently considering reattaching the warm air flow pipe to new
sheet metal around the exhaust manifold - that flap is set up to deliver
90-100 deg F air to the intake at all times...

one problem is when you re-engineer the intake, you could easily put
your actual inlet in a low pressure zone at speed. The usual report
with mesing around here is that it makes the car louder. Not something
that excites me. Also see soon the new file I'm adding to my web site
about evaluation of swaps and upgrades to car parts... it will be very
cynical I think.

I'm interested in a real objective report on the Blau piece.

I'm also considering carburetting my car. 5 webers, manual choke,
anyone?

I contemplated rearranging the sentences in this email so they make some
sort of sense but, um,
