Boy, you make it sound complicated...
Just remove the top assembly (hah, talk about making it sound simple!),
remove the lower half of the airbox and butcher the inlet side to be one
big hole. Then attach a brake air duct or the like (at racing shops)
with a big dia connection, and run your hose wherever you want to
whatever filter you want. Inside that engine compartment this could be
tough! remove your AC for more room...
And find out from the engineerly types on the list where the "high
pressure" zones are, that's where you want your actual inlet to be.
