Tire wear, all-seasons, and stuff
Jeesh man,
Take care of those tires. If your edges are worn bald and the
center has that much tread you need to run with more pressure in there.
Man, I highly recommend everyone on this list buys a $3 tire depth gauge
and measure their tires every 5,000 - 10,000 miles for problems. YOu
should have even wear on all 4's with proper inflation and rotations.
In answer to your quesion about replacement, I would advise you
start all over and buy 4 GOOD tires and take care of them. Look on the
Gas Flap I think for Recomended pressures. IF you drive alone go with the
smaller number and if you carry gear a lot go with the bigger one. If you
drive fast you may want to bigger one too.
Also, check alignment once the new tires go on. CHECK IMEDIATELY
with new tires. Its not worth ruining the new ones. GEt it set right
(not just within specs).
As my conclusion I will say to check tire pressures at LEAST
Monthly. I do mine before any long trip, track event, or at least once a
month if nothing big happens. Also, If the temp drops 40 degrees this
will change things too. In winter you may need to add air to keep the
same pressure.
Uhhh, if you run Z-rated rubber the specs on Gas Flap change since
many V + Z rated rubber has a max pressure of 45 lbs you can run more than
the 30 - 35 you would in most tires. I found on MY Bridgestone RE-71's I
got best wear in MY Specific 4kq with about 42 lbs in front and 40 in
back. For the track I would up this to about 45 in back to induce more
Oversteer.
Happy shopping.
Oh, yea. ONe more thing. Proper tire inflation increases tire grip, fuel
economy, and handling so you will be safer, tires last longer, and you use
less gas. Well worth it I think.
L8R and sorry if I sounded harsh. I didn't mean to.
