Re: 5 cyl timing belt questions

I have done two of these with apparent success.

332 was the value I used. I got there by standing on the wrench and
extension at the distance out on the wrench given by the cosine of the
angle it made with horizontal. I didn't need an extension but I weigh
255.

I don't think it is locking compound. On one I used a teflon sealer
on the flange of the pulley and bolt head. The second one I put wheel
bearing grease in those areas. I'll see in a couple of years which is
better.

I too was concerned here because when I got the pump out there was
some corrosion where the O-ring went. I was reassured by a list
member, who I forgot to thank by the way, that does a lot of these who
said this was common and not to worry. Light sanding is all I did. I
have a large tube of silicon lubricant that I always use on rubber
parts like this.

The only other problem is with the pulley on the cam. It has to come
off to get the cover off. On my 20v I stuck a big screwdriver through
the large round holes in the pulley to loosen and torque it. Some
listers say this isn't correct but I don't know why.
