troubleshooting 87 4Kq

Symptoms: No fuel to fuel distributor. Fuel pump does not
run.
Suspected component: Fuel Pump relay
Tests conducted: Bridged connectors on relay. Pump runs. Car
starts and runs fine. Replaced relay with a new one. Does
not run. Bridged relay and got car home at least.

So right now, I'm thinking (per a previous reply) that maybe
one of the connectors to the relay has slipped down and is
not making contact, so I'll check that out this afternoon.
BUT just in case, I thought I'd run it past the group.

What if it's not the connectors? Where do I go from here? Is
there another component that tells the brain to turn on the
fuel pump? Is it simpler than that, and I probably have a
broken wire somewhere?

I'm ordering a Bentley today, but it won't get here till???
and I'd like to get this thing on the road for the weekend
if I can.

Thanks in advance,
Dave
