The Audi CS Quattro 1986
The quattro perhaps does or does not engage still, I never could really
tell. I do know the light does not come on for it though. The rear
passenger door handle appears well but the thing will pop out of the socket
for the metal (looks like cement) is cracked in two and the right passenger
door mirro is also stuck in place for there is a short somewhere. A long
time ago, the sunroof motor stopped working so there is a clear sealant
keeping it shut. The AC still works yet the actual AC unit has a dent that
is only superficial. The cover that covers the alternator is only half
there.
The altnernator is covered up yet that cover dangles to one side and is
easily visible as well. The wheel bearings and the top engine gasket head
were replaced a little over two years ago by Dans Tire And Auto Repair. His
former mechanic Ronnie now at Johns Restoration nearby (several hundred
yards away) recalls doing the work. The receipts for those two jobs are
gone but every other receipt I still have. There is close to $2000. to be
but
into the car and that is before a proper body restoration as well.
I know this much about Audi dealers. The price is jacked way to high for
anything. The rebuilt Bosch starter from Audi would have cost me $274.00
give or take a few single dollars. I bought the exact same starter for
$178.00 minus $45. for the core for a grand total of $133.00 at Auto Palace.
Installation cost $50.00. I could have done the job myself but wanted the
engine looked over by a pro. Hmm, I could fix it but wouldl leave it to an
experienced mechanic whom has the lift and air power tools.
So I state there is $2000. worth of work to the engine other parts total
with a pro foriegn car mechanic (non Audi) fixing it. Then a minimum
$1500.00 (as told over a year ago) for a complete body restoration Including
bondo.
Someone that does not count the $$$ for labor and is fixing the car
themselves can do it for $1000.00 including parts.
