I'm hot, baby, YEAH
(reference to "Austin Powers" for our foreign readers)
Just wanted to let you guys know that I got my CQ back late
Friday night, and for the first time since I got the car,
it's blissfully warm. Incredible, imagine having heat only
1 mile down the road, even when it's 32F outside...
The heater box was a joke, pictures coming soon.
I may even write a letter to Audi asking if they will
cover part of the $1000+ repair (box, heater core, blower motor,
freon, labor).
The Florida weather seems to have caused the problem, along with
the peeling vinyl on my door panels.
It's funny, the local dealer service writer told me that "these
cars are all built by hand you know, so you should be happy with
whatever heat you have". Hahahaha.
Pity that we didn't drop a 10vt or 20vt motor in there while the
dash was completely apart. Maybe next time. :)
Interesting footnote - I was reinstalling the center console in
the car today (there was a rattle) and I noticed that the padded
vinyl on the driver's side of the console (kneepad of sorts) was
also coming loose. So, I pulled it off, removed the 5 8mm nuts
holding the backing to the console, and cleaned off all the glue.
Do you believe this plate weighs over 1lb? It's no surprise this
car is so heavy, everything is overengineered.
Except of course the foam rubber...
