It should just pull right off. It's close tolerance, so if it's twisted
it'll jam. Try knocking it right back square and see if it will move
then.
Of course, it's possible that someone has been here before you, and has
mixed up the hub assembly instructions (sealant on the splines) with
the harmonic balancer instructions ...
On some engines, you can undo the four bolts and remove the outer
part of the harmonic balancer to get the belt past it. ISTR this
worked on one of Roger Galvin's older engines. Gives you a chance
to have a real close look at the rubber. If you try this, mark the
position - it has to go back together the same way.
