Need for Speed 3 Frustration

I finally went out and bought this game....Went out to that website with 
the 84 4000s turbo, got it all loaded up and was ready to race.....


BOOM....a damn error.

Now the game won't race...I can get the thing up and going but as soon as 
it kicks off to race, it bombs on an "exception"

Anyone else have this problem?
