Welcome to the family.

Do a compression test and see how loose the pistons and rings are.

Vaccuum leak. This engine is very suceptible to these. Pull of the Idle
Stablizer Valve (ISV) and clean it with some Carb Cleaner. Make sure all
the vacuum hoses are intact and not spongy or torn.

Bad gas?

I think you have to take the dashboard out. Almost all Audi's are ugly
wiht this repair.

Change your timing belt now. You can do the replacement yourself if you're
a competatn mechanic but if not, buy the parts and have a dealer or
reccomended Audi-knowledgeable mechanic do the work. You want to change
the timing belt at 60K miles (Audi reccs. 90K).
