RE: Dunlops SP8K versus Yoko A520
Tire Rack seems to like the Yoko A520 and says it holds up well on the
track. Some of the European reviews I've read of this tire aren't nearly as
favorable (eg tyres-online.uk.com).
Since were on the topic of using street tires on the track - any experiences
with the following:
- Toyo T1 Plus
- Falken GRB
- Michelin SX-GT
A local tire dealer, who sells both Falken and Dunlop (both owned by
Sumitomo) told me the Falken GRB's hold up much better on the (dry) track
than SP-8000's, but they're not very good in the wet.
I've also heard the Michelin's - both SX-GT's ad MXX - are basically "dry"
condition tires, hydroplane pretty easily and are generally very poor in the
wet.
Sounds like the Toyo T1 Plus is THE tire to get for street/track used and
also very good in the wet. Anybody using this tire?

Since we are on the subject, does anyone have an opinion on how these
two tires might compare out on the track? It looks like I will run
this size on my urquattro, and they are likely to see a good amount
of track time. I have been pleased with Dunlop tires, but I was
wondering if the Yoko's might be better on the track (they cost
nearly the same).
Thanks,
