Actually, we don't do that any more.  We found a large pin drift in my
toolbox that is an _exact_ fit in the timing mark observation window
in the cam belt cover backing plate.  We just shove the drift through
the cam gear and the observation window and it gives us enough purchase
to break the cam gear loose.
