Thanks to all that responded in particular Jim Haseltine and Frederick Smith
who passed on their experiences.

At this point, having temporarily stopped the "effects" of the leak, (the
car is acting normal) I'm trying to make a decision on whether to go for the
gasket, rebuilt head or even a rebuilt engine.  The engine option probably
sounds extreme, but compression is low on two cylinders, besides the leak,
and the prices are attractive for the rebuilds, so its tempting.  I'll keep
you posted.
