Calling all cars...
Hello all,
I am in need of any and all information regarding the sale or advertisement
of any 1991 200q 20v wagons that you know of. I also need to know what a
fair and appropriate salvage value is on this car. I am in need of this
information so that I may establish the value of my car with the insurance
company and when the time comes, the value of the salvage.
I totalled my Avant over the weekend. See page 22 of the most recent
Quattro Quarterly for some insight into what happened (substitute left front
tire instead of right). I could not bring myself to publicly admit this
until now. Suffice to say that the car is almost certainly a write-off, I
am slightly bruised but okay, noone else, including the police, was
involved, and no other property was damaged. All in all, a highly favorable
outcome to a few really, really stupid moments on my part.
I have the car at my mechanic's shop and he is open minded to parting it out
and has already spoken for the intercooler. The only damage evident thus
far under the hood is the airbox, which was crushed. I believe the entire
drivetrain is good shape. So if there are any conversion ideas bouncing
around people's head out there, there may be a 20vt motor with 99k miles
available soon. Other things of recent interest have been transmissions and
the rear cargo area cover. Interior is titanium gray. I believe the left
front fender is in good shape, in Indigo Blue.
The appraiser is going to be out today to look at it. I'm hoping to set a
value of 10k or better for the car. The appraiser is talking about 20% for
the salvage, which I think sounds way too high. I know there are some
listers out there in the car biz. Please give me some input on this. I
would really appreciate it.
