It won't work.
I made a temporary repair to Roger Galvin's IC hose (the long one that
runs along underneath the single-pass 200TQ intercooler) by cutting open
a foot or so of bicycle inner tube. This we then prepared just as if we
were mending a bicycle puncture (clean, roughened, etc.) and then wound
around the IC hose, spreading rubber solution liberally between the
layers. We finished the lot off with some large and tight tie wraps.
Still holding without signs of distress, 17500 miles later.
