Thanks to all the listers who replied to my short question. Over the past
week I took a vacation and went home (reading week).  During which I was
able to work on the car. The short was indeed caused by the cigarette
lighter, which someone had suggested, as well, the PO did indeed have a
cell phone in the car, which explained the metal addition to the fuse.

I was able to fix the door lock pull, thanks to all that assisted there.
Sorry my replies were so late in coming...but it was a vacation! :-)
