I suggest you use extreme caution when attempting to replace syncros. If you've
never worked on a gearbox before, leave it to an expert....too many specialty
tools and techniques required. And not just any expert, one that specializes in
Quattro (BTDT lost big time!)
The most common scenario I've seen is the relative ease with which a gearbox
will come apart. The problem is putting the box together_correctly!
I would suggest a good used _factory sealed_ gearbox. It won't cost much more
than the raw components needed to rebuild an Audi box, and should give years of
service.
