Re: transmission leak--verdict (was:question)
Well, this morning at Salisbury Motor Car we had a good look at the tranny
from below. While it's possible that the new final drive seal I installed
last month is leaking (oh, the shame), it's pretty obvious that lots of oil
is now coming from the tranny _input_ seal, as I suspected. The tranny
level is now low by about a pint (in 500 miles), so if it had been
previously overfilled by me, it ain't any more :(
On Monday, the car will be returned to have the tranny seals replaced--will
do both final drive seals, too, for good measure. Too bad the clutch has
only 25 Kmiles on it, 'cause I guess this would be the time to get a new
one. Anything else that I would be prudent to address while the tranny is
removed? (Oh yes, adjust the parking brake cable).
