My new (old) Audi GT (I'M RE-COUPED!!)
Wells, seems our friend with the 1987 Coupe GT was more willing to get rid of
it than I first thought. I offered him 1200, he took 1250. Not bad. The car
does need some work, but I figured that out long ago. I drove the car,
digital dash fully functional, although there are a few odd things -
1. Clutch engagement occurs at the floor, or very near to it. He claims he
just replaced the clutch, I found it odd that this is how the car should
behave.
2. Gear changes - occur with a very abrupt notchyness - not similar to the
heavy box in the 4000Q. Seems to almost click into gear. He claims that his
mechanic adjusted the gears, although I am not familiar with this practice.
It may need a new trans. mount, which might be part of the problem. Definatly
needs new motor mounts.
3. Cruise control - appears to work at first, seems to lose a little speed
over time. ??????
4. Time to start searching for replacement parts - - - - - -
Thanks for any advice/input that you guys have given me, looks like this car
is pretty neat. Sounds great, runs well....no apparent leaks or electric
gremlins...
Later!
