On my 87 90q, the topmost three horizontal tracks of the defroster are used
for the antenna. At least that's what's in the owner's manual (which
atmittedly doesn't belong to this car, but is for an 80q) and they don't
seem to defrost that well, either.

Come to think of it- they don't do that good a job of receiving radio
waves... no interference, but I can only get the really strong stations.
Not half as good as the small Hirschmann roof whip I had on the 88 80.
Maybe an additional antenna amp will take care of that. I don't know about
AM- I never listen to AM.
