Roger Galvin recently asked me to add a codicil to my Last Will and
Testament, leaving my microfiche reader to him when I die.

And he wasn't joking.

For those who have a fiche and are desperate, and can't wait until a CD ROM
is available:  A Hastings triplet magnifier in 20X power is sufficient to
read a jumbo fiche.  It is kind of tedious, because only one frame can be
seen at one time, and a light table would be helpful.  (I use a sheet of
Teflon under a lamp, with the fiche clothspinned to it.)

20X Hastings triplets may be ordered from Edmund Scientific (their label,
which I bought), from Forestry Suppliers, Inc. (B&L label, and for less, I
recently discovered) and perhaps from others.
