Remember I said "on a turbo". On these cars, most of the time the
main seal acts to keep air out of the engine, not oil in. When it
goes, it starts to leak air in, especially when the inlet side of
the turbo is in megasuck mode. In most cases, this air arrives on
the post-mass sensor side, weakening the mixture. The seal acts like
a woodwind reed and produces a howling noise.
