PN's

PN with other info isn't what I'm talking about. Posting PN that are wrong is
not what I'm talking about necessarily either (though why wrong might be an
interesting discussion, cuz the fiche can be wrong too, btdt). What YOU need
Dennis is different than what the LIST might need (or not). I'm not here to
run this list. I'm here voicing my opin about PN's. PN's alone in a post are
a waste of BW, IMO. PN's while doing a project or making a post about an R&R
makes for a good read (and good archive material). I've been on a bunch of
mailing lists, and find few that allow straight PN regurgitation. In 5 years
here, the archive search and listing by subject, PN or product is hardly
optimal. Not really blaming Dan for anything, but I don't think they should
be here nor are necessary. Personally toward Phil, I enjoy his stories on
quattros, I loath his PN posts. I vote selfishly for more of the former, none
of the latter. For a detail of what I'm talking about, how bout a gander at
the Toyota 4X4 list... Take a look at:
http://www.off-road.com/4x4web/toyota
and for really neat PROJECT BY PROJECT details, take a look at
http://www.scruz.net/~barneym/toy_root/techneek/top_neek.htm
Really neat hunh? Try the DSM pages next....
I'm sure not a bitching about this list. When someone posts about a single
specific PN (and the post and the Phil return are subject coded something
totally non part related), I think there are better things to do with a search
engine.
For now, why don't any PN requests or responses have Subject: PN <part> (and
Phil, no RE:PN) at the very head. That will speed archive search sometime
down the road.

Ok and she has an 800 number. Dennis: Question. In the 5 years Phil has
been doing the part number chases, how many you figure he's posted have been
superceded? So, how far back do we chase the archives to find those PN's.
Just thinking about the subject.
