Re: Questions re: 4kq

Well,
First, I love my quad lights. They rule. I have them on my 85'
right now. I have the OLD style quads not the newer Euro Aero style
H4/H1's that are like $600 a pair. I got my set for $8 at a local
U-Pull-yard. THat was the cost of the used H4's and H1's I found. :-) I
had the headlight bracket lying around. But, Puma, Susquehana
Motorsports, etc. Almost any place that carries Hella lighting products
should have the H4's. H1's are a little harder to find but any hella
dealer should be able to get them. About $35 each is a good price I
think. I see them for $45 all the time. Dont forget to relay. I used
10ga wire for everything. Lows on one relay. Highs on two seperate
relays so Now I am ready for whatever wattage I want to run. :-)
	As for Coil-Overs. DO-IT. I have seen them on 4kqs, 5ktq, and
90q. All were sweet. I drove the 90q and drive the 5ktq on a regular
basis. Check out my Web Page to see some pics of a 5ktq with 400lb
springs at an Auto Cross. Keep in mind in all pics he is at the limit of
adhesion. Uhh, notice the lack of roll. :-)
www.uidaho.edu/~phen9461 Go to Motorsports then AUDI then
Track Events err, no go to my friends 5ktq pics.
Also, even if you dont go super high with spring rates, like for a
daily driver if you have bad roads, you can go just slightly stiffer than
H&Rs with it proportianally stiffer in back to reduce understeer and
balance the car. Also, you can set the car to look however you want. 1"
low, 1" high. On the Ground. All depends on what you want. Just dont go
TOO low or it messes up handling from bad geometry on the 4kq from what
I've heard. For street use if you have any rough roads you may want to
start around 250/250 front rear or maybe more rear depending on what you
like. Some go much higher in front but to me that doesnt' make sense on
the quattro and most that have messed with it both ways seem to agree.
Oh, and dont forget some SWEET shocks to go with them. Bilstien
are easies but for the Track Koni may be better. I will use Bilstien HD as
I wont lower mine much. If you plan to lower get the Sports.
Price $450+ for parts. Extra for Labor. 2-bennet uses Aluminum.
I want to use SS so I can weld color to strut. I know Ron Wood does it
this way and I think Todd Candey does to. Call them both. If you plan to
use Bilstiens tell them that as I think it reguires a different Top Hat.
THat answer your questions? E-Mail me if you have any more.
I can give you some people to ask if you want more info. Bruce Bell,
Michael Williams, Alex Nekus, all did it to a 4kq but Alex has a 20v and
17" wheels so his experience may be a little different than for a daily
driver. :-)
