burnt plug wires

I decided to replace my plugs the other day, but I wasn't sure if I
should change my wires too. Upon inspecting the ones I had on my car I
noticed that two of the five connections on top of my spark plugs
are completily loose.

Turned out that the wire clips that are holding the top of the plugs
were broke. So, I went ahead and bought new Bosch plugs (tri-electrode
ones) and wires. I changed one by one, but when I got to the centre one
came the surprise. The other end of the wire that connects the coil were
completely burnt. I mean it was charcoal. I couldn't even dig it out of
the top of the distributor cap, it just broke when I touched it.

Wow. I never saw anything like this. I'm surprised the car was still
running. Luckily I still managed to get to the store before they closed
and bought a new distributor cap and rotor. Now it's running much better
and seems like my gas milage is improved too.

Just thought I share this experience...
