I worked in a plastic fab shop, and we used both of them-- the other is
called "Adhesive 90", that's it. It has the same dried mucous (sorry,
most accurate description I can think of) consistency when sprayed, but
dries a bit stronger. I think for this purpose, 77 would work fine. As
I recall, when I last bought it from Builder's Square (never seen it at
Home Depot) the 77 was about $8.50/can and the 90 was about $11.50/can.
The beauty of these adhesives is that they will not soak through porous
materials, like headliner fabric, when first sprayed, since they are not
wet like typical spray adhesives.
I've got to fix the headliner on my '86 5000cs... I'll post the results.
I just don't see the logic in recovering it for $150 when the fabric is
still clean and beautiful-- just sagging.
