The only risk he's taking is his _own_ life. And as you said, that's
fairly selfish. I won't even get into the financial aspects, personal AND
social. Will a life insurance policy pay out? I doubt it. Criminal behaviour
disclaimers, etc.

Try driving your car at maximum speed while thinking of your
wife/girlfriend/whatever, and see if you don't lift.
I believe all of the "tire blow-out" posts in this thread were on the rear.
