Come to think of it...the two times I sustained the elevated speeds
long enough to get the effect, I happed to have the bottom cover off
the engine ( chasing leaks etc.).  I think you  and Chris Miller may 
have hit on the problem.  All the other times I've gone over 130MPH
were just short bursts, not sustained cruising.
