200q oil temp sensor location + car update
Hi again. I've found a black wire with an O-connector dangling near the
alternator. I strongly suspect this is the wire to the oil temp guage
(not working). I'll be damned if I can find the oil temp sensor, though!
I've perused Bentley, which suggests its on the oil pump housing. Can't
find anything that looks like the picture though.
I'd appreciate any help in locating this thing (89 200tqw, 6/88 date)

Car update: It has only 70k miles, but its amazing how many things dont
work. I'm going to be debugging all summer! At this point I just want
the basics working so I can use the car to commute while I fix my 635s
engine.
So far, I've installed a new terminal on the positive wire to the
battery (all 3 wires were totally corroded, even under the insulation,
with one of the smaller ones broken), and fixed a broken wire at the
alternator, which was preventing the car from charging. Also checked
tire pressures (one at 50, one at 40, 2 @ 30).
How long do all the various sensors last? The coolant temp guage is
flaky but connectors to the multitemp sensor are clean. The fan does not
come on after a hard run, so I'm guessing that thermoswitch is bad.
Should I just order a new set of sensors? Which ones go bad? Advice
appreciated.
Thanks. Samir.
