Simply, the turbocharger has water passage around the bearing and is
connected to the engine cooling system (there are two thin water lines
going to the turbo). On 44 chassis cars there's an electric water pump
which pumps the water for couple of minutes after stopping a hot car to
cool the turbo bearings.
