dusted by a diesel
I got dusted by a Rover 420 GSD today, that's a two litre diesel for those in
the US who were unsure. I am talking seriously outclassed! I saw him in my
mirrors gaining quickly just before a set of downhill hairpins. He caught up
just after and had me sliding round an entire corner before I pulled over to
let him overtake me and the van that was by then in front. When I saw him
gaining quickly I was doing 90mph up a Welsh mountain.
This was after I read in the latest VW Audi car about a 2.5 litre diesel in a
100 avant with 2 bar of boost (1 bar being standard) and a remap putting out
c. 170 bhp. Before they toned down the mapping it was recording similar in gear
acceleration to an MB quattro (their words).
I learnt to drive in a diesel Renault Clio and there are some pretty impressive
diesel cars out there now, don't Motoren Technik Meyer (sp? MTM) do a 125 bhp
conversion for the A3 tdi? VW Audi car reviewed it about a year ago and were
impressed with its performance. I'll post the in gear times of the 100 avant
later if anyones interested.
Graham.
I was wondering what to do about four star going off sale at the end of this
year, how about a 5 cylinder Audi diesel??
