A while back when I replaced my tie rods, I thought it would be nice to
keep them from rusting solid again over the decades, so i picked up a
new inner tube, the plan being to slip a section of it over the
adjusting parts, with them all greased up (now now kids) and zip tie the
ends. next FEA comes along, cut the zip ties, slide it out of the way
and voila! (as the French say)

trouble is, I got a 1-1/4" or something tube, and it was way too tight
on the hardware (cut it out!) so it didn't work well. Someday I'll pick
up one of those old stingray rear tire tubes, 2-1/4", and try again...
